Boogie Wonderland
Earth, Wind, and Fire were considered to be a funk band with their lavish horn section, and complex rhythms. The genre of funk became popular during the 60's and remained popular into the late 1970's. It is based on R&B and jazz improvisation. Funk relies heavily on a strong bass and the music was made to be very danceable. During the 70's, the lyrics of funk music were written to be thoughtful and melodic, based on life experiences. Funk is different from soul in that funk has more complex rhythms. The song is usually based around one or two riffs in the song. James Brown is considered to be the forerunner for funk music and is one of the genre's figureheads. Earth, Wind, and Fire too were an important part of the funk movement. Their song "Boogie Wonderland" is one of their most well-known songs and embodies the idea of funk.
