Disco
When thinking of the seventies, most people think of Disco. Disco describes the clubs, music, dance style, and fashion. Dance clubs became very popular and dancing soon became a leisure activity. Disco dance clubs attracted two groups of people: the young generation, and the working middle class. Unlike dance clubs in the past, Disco dance clubs attracted both people of different races and sexual orientation. At first, Disco was relatively unpopular. However, the movie Saturday Night Fever (1977), along with its soundtrack, which included songs from the Bee Gees, helped popularize Disco. Many people of the working class were appealed to the idea of working by day, dressing up, and live another life while dancing at night (Like in the movie Saturday Night Fever). Disco music was different than the previous generation of music because it was made with the intention for people to dance to, and dance they did.
