Important News Stories of the 1970s
The 1970s were a turbulent time of social unrest and a deteriorating faith in the government. Globally, these sentiments were augmenting as well. For example, in the Munich Olympic games, eleven athletes were killed by terrorists in September 1972, and the Soviet coup d’etat was launched in Afghanistan in 1978. Although many stories appeared throughout the years, both nationally and worldwide, several are still recalled today as some of the most prominent stories in American history.
