Charlie's Angels
The show Charlie's Angels was an American action and crime drama running from 1976 to 1981. Its plot focused on three girl detectives who solved crime for their unseen boss, Charlie. The women were all beautiful like angels thus the show's title "Charlie's Angels". The show was a big success and made its way onto lunch boxes, dolls, posters and other accessories like these. While the plots were not complex and emotionally riveting ones, they were entertaining to the American public. The depiction of the women was and is a debatable topic. On one hand, the women were strong, intelligent women who used their brains and brawns to solve crimes. They were a women's dream of what could be attained if hard work was applied. On the other hand, the women were told what to do by their mystery boss, Charlie, which showed the male's dominance in the workplace. The women were also overly-sexualized and thought to be not capable of handling their work which can be thought of as a step back in the feminist movement. The show's theme song is an extremely memorable song especially to those who have seen the show. The girls were not the same girls throughout the whole show, but frequently changed positions.
